Denali!!!

Well we headed on out towards Cantwell today and the sun came out and the skies cleared for my first view of Denali (aka Mt. McKinley) since I arrived! I grabbed a ride with Shena and Ray (I work with Shena) as they were heading out that way to look at some property.

This pic of Denali was taken from the southern viewpoint right off of the Parks highway. You can see how the mountain creates its own weather by the clouds encircling the top portion.

We headed to Cantwell and spent some time looking at a property for them. Then headed on over to Denali Mountain Morning Hostel in Carlo Creek for a visit with my former boss Bill. We ate at the Pizza pub across the parks road and I bought the dinner as payment for my ride out. It was a $30 dollar pizza. Yes folks, I said $30 dollars for an 18" large pizza. However, I can say it was damn good. Food and supplies even if they are driven in, are waaayyyyy much higher in price that far out.

After dinner, we headed back down to the Denali Highway to find camping on the side of the road and packed it in under the twilight at about 12:30am.
