Bike Ride and Hostel

So after the conference today. I rode my bike over to the Girdwood Hostel to secure a bunk for the night. It's a great little place tucked into the small neighborhood a few miles away from the resort. Only $20 a night and my roomies were 4 boys from Wyoming and a girl from Australia.... I wore earplugs. lol I also saw a mother moose and her two twins calfs.... so cute, along the way to the hostel.

I rode on down to the town square and bought some postcards which some of you maybe seeing soon and headed on over to Chair 5 for a meal. I recommend the Halibut and Cheddar burger....YUM!

After dinner I mustered up the strength to head out of town for the "Gird to Bird" bike trail. It's a 6-mile bike ride one way to Bird Point on the Turnagain Arm road. It was built on the old abandoned Seward highway. It climbs from essentially sea level to several hundred feet. It's not hard, just steady climbing. There was a moose feeding in a slough along the way up and hundreds of little waterfalls, some large, mostly small, trickling and gurlgling down the mountain along the bike path.

I didn't ride all the way down to Bird cause it was getting later, 8:30pm even though it was light out enough to wear sunglasses. But I had been at the conference all day and I had about a 5 mile bike ride back to the hostel.

Let's just say I was VERY tired when I got back and slept like a baby after downing some Tylenols. I laid in my bunk reading until 11pm using the light from the window to read with. I remember waking up again during the "night" at 4:30am and it was just as light out as when it was 11pm. Miraculously I wasn't too sore the next day.
